Morton Medallion Recognizes Members' Love for Trees
There is a feeling of pride and partnership that comes with the Arbor Day Foundation's J. Sterling Morton Recognition Medallion. Many Foundation members display the golden medallion knowing that they are truly making a lasting difference in the world by supporting tree planting, environmental stewardship, and nature education.
The J. Sterling Morton Recognition Medallion is not only a work of art, it's a part of America's history. The medallion bears the likeness of Arbor Day founder J. Sterling Morton and was sculpted by Rudolph Evans, creator of the Jefferson Memorial centerpiece and the celebrated statue of Morton that stands in the U.S. Capitol Building.
Arbor Day Foundation members who have reached the Morton Medallion level of contribution display with pride their own numbered issue that was struck for this purpose alone. The leaves sculpted on the presentation mounting are those of the laurel and the oak. Laurel is an ancient symbol of high honor and achievement, while oak, our national tree, symbolizes steadfastness and strength. A ribbon of time binds them together in a wreath honoring both Sterling Morton and the medallion recipient's love of trees.
The Arbor Day Foundation would like you to consider becoming a recipient of the J. Sterling Morton Recognition Medallion. This may be done in a number of ways: through a charitable gift annuity that guarantees you income for life; including the Foundation in your will; an outright gift of $10,000 or more; or other gift arrangements. In turn, it would be our honor to present you with a medallion as a symbol of your love of trees and commitment to environmental stewardship.
